Funding is available to assist faculty in facilitating field trips that augment students’ learning experience. Applications for support can be submitted for the following:
- Funding for faculty-led field experience: Funding may be used to hire a research assistant to participate in fieldwork opportunities. Faculty can apply for a maximum of $4,080 ($17/hr for up to 240 hours) to support a research assistant.
- Funding for class field trips: Courses in programs other than sustainable development (i.e. courses without an SDEV identifier) are eligible, but the course must satisfy a sustainable development program requirement and cover topics related to sustainability and the environment. Faculty can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to offset field trip costs.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and decisions will be sent out 3-4 weeks after submission. Receiving funding in any given semester does not guarantee future grants or amounts.
In accepting funding, faculty agree to oversee the production of 1-2 student blog posts for the Earth Institute’s State of the Planet blog.
